"White Fairy Tales" is a shadow theater performance based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales. Having chosen this rare nowadays genre of puppet theatre, director Nijolė Indriūnaitė (she is also an actress of the "Lėlė" theater and the author of several plays) and artist Aušra Bagočiūnaitė Paukštiene have created a transparent and bright performance, reviving the traditions of Lithuanian and other European nations' paper cut-outs.
N. Indriūnaitė used three H.K. Andersen's Christmas tales: "Daisy with Matches", "The Christmas Tree", "The Old Man Besmegenis". In a lyrical shadow play, the director asks the audience what the holiday is and what it means to us. Everyone understands the holiday in their own way... And how does a lonely little girl survive the holiday and cut down the Christmas tree in the forest?
Theater critic Audronė Girdzijauskaitė wrote about the performance: "A shadow theater performance that does not have stronger traditions in Lithuania in the small "Lėlės" " salukki appeared to me to be perfect that day: the proportions of the objects, the grace of the silhouettes, the lighting, the clarity of the language and the lyrical tonality (avoided sentimentality!), the rhythms of the movements and the change of image and the delicate acting style of the actors Almira Grybauskaitė and Elvyra Piškinaitė moved me to tears.
