The difference of just a few years, from the birthday of the most famous playwright of all time and the appearance of the first university theater in Lithuania, encourages the search for new dialogues with the university youth who protect historical memory and challenges the creators of Shakespeare's interpretations in Lithuania.

The performance "The Promised One" is an in-depth analysis of the play "Romeo and Juliet" by the legendary playwright, during which the Vilnius University (VU) Drama Theater aims to discover new, as yet unexpressed sides and perspectives of the tragedy.

Old family feuds that come from nowhere by an unknown but irresponsible original act, destroyed the harmony that had lasted for centuries. No matter how hard one tries to hide or deny the sins of the past, they require untying. Through the faults of the characters and the fateful birth of tragedy, "The Promised One" will tell the story of Juliet as the Promised One, who was supposed to break up family feuds. Parent-child relationships, the influence of friends, trust in authorities and the significance of their role, the analysis of nascent love as a process, the dilemma of the perception of love, the question of trust, the sudden onset of maturity of a young person and the reasons for that process, the signs of fate ignored in the heat of love - this is the amplitude of an effective analysis of the play. in which the theme of responsibility is realized. The dramatic stories of the characters are so tightly intertwined that it is impossible to avoid tragedy. Everyone's guilt becomes obvious.
