"ADEL" family chronicle based on the play by Irina Buryachenko (Latvia), Russian language

Each family keeps its own family history: faded black-and-white photos, yellowed, string-tied letters, things whose meaning and significance fade over time. In the performance "Adele", one gets the impression that this archival box fell from the mezzanine and, like a genie from a

worn copper jug, materialized in the form of a sulking, domineering old woman Adele (actress Asmik Bagojan). Her whole life will pass before the eyes of the audience: from a clumsy orphan who has experienced the injustices of life, to a respected matriarch of a family who is feared.

Irina Burjachenko, a well-known gallery owner and producer in Riga, organizer of cultural events, made her debut as the author of the play. Her family stories became the basis of the play and provided director Svetlana Bara with interesting material that was not weighed down by previous interpretations. The director used this material with unexpected courage and talent. Thanks to the original directorial decisions, the performance avoided slipping into a predictable stand-up show and became more than a true one-man performance. Although only Asmik Bagojan is on stage for the whole hour, the viewer's imagination fills the contours of the performance by itself, so the stage becomes full of a multitude of characters that Adele tells about.
