“In the forest”

In the "forest", there is a look at the history of Lithuania from a large part of the country's archetypal forest in the last century. The forest is extremely multifaceted, both ecologically and historically, and sometimes superficially romanticized. Thus, his image in the historical (PA) consciousness hides a series of visions, three of which became the starting points of this work. First of all, M. K. Čiurlionis' symphonic poem "In the Forest", which established the Dzūkija Forest dream in his imagination. It is quite different - the post -war Dzūkija forest, which killed thousands of participants in resistance battles. Finally, the present forest, which is caused by survival and biodiversity not only ecologists, but also by public organizations and communities. What does this transformation of the Lithuanian forest identity from the "Nature House" to the (non) protected territories testify to the register of protected areas?
"Forest" is an oratorio for eight voices and spatial electronics dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of M. K. Čiurlionis.

While reading Čiurlionis' letters to his wife Sofia, post -war guerrilla poems (including Salomea Neris' poems), Lithuanian historians' research on the participation of women in resistance battles, John Meko's chronicles about the beginning of his emigration, and recording the memories of his family members. In the Forest, there is no doubt my most Lithuanian work. "
