Drama CROSSROADS
"I don't have a future, so I don't have any plans either," the pensioner from Batumi has no idea what adventures await her as she wanders through the alleys, courtyards and staircases of Istanbul. In director Levan Akin's (And Then We Danced), Istanbul becomes the scene of a human drama where tradition and canon collide with freedom and empathy. Lia's dead sister is helped by Ači, a kind-hearted naive person who has his own goals, and the movie characters met along the way, like the characters of a magical fairy tale, take the plot in a different and unexpected direction. After making friends with Evrim, a defender of transsexual rights, it slowly begins to become clear what the multi-layered city is really hiding. Will Lia manage to find her long-lost sister's daughter Tekle, whose traces keep appearing and disappearing, like those cats that keep appearing in the frame? What is the elderly history teacher really looking for, and do her dreams really have no future? Cozy and bright, the film recalls the best traditions of Sakartwell's cinema, while at the same time drawing bold new screen horizons.
