After the start of Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Ukrainian army secretly recorded and made public the conversations of Russians fighting at the front with family members who remained at home. Confessions of soldiers about brutal war crimes are juxtaposed with shots of the devastated Ukrainian landscape - blown-up cities are back in Ukrainian hands, flowers have bloomed among the ruins. At the other end of the line are pleas to return home or support for violence caused by a distorted perception of geopolitical reality. A shocking documentary about Russia's murderous imperial project and effective propaganda apparatus, which has reached many festival audiences around the world.
