The daughter of a young couple mysteriously disappears. While patiently waiting for word from the police and looking for clues of the abduction in family videos, the parents begin to find DVDs under the apartment door. They record the everyday life of the couple, moments with their daughter and even the most intimate moments. When the police start watching the parents' house, it quickly becomes clear that they are being followed by the store manager who lives in the house across the street (Tsai Ming-liang star Kang-sheng Lee). As the couple's personal life increasingly moves from the shadows to the light of day, the portrait of a tight-knit society watching each other plays an important role in the background.
