Walk through Lukiskis Prison

Escape to prison has never been so easy... The historical complex of Lukiskis Prison Castle, surrounded by a high wall, begins a new life and invites you to stroll through it.

A visit to this prison may not answer all the questions, but who wouldn’t want to look at the other side of the rule of law? During a walk with our professional guide-guard, you will get acquainted with the history of the emergence of this architectural complex (which is included in the architectural heritage of Lithuania), the architecture and the daily life of prisoners.

The first prisoners were brought to Lukiskis Prison Castle in 1904 and since then this place of deprivation of liberty functioned continuously until July 2, 2019. The prison was designed following the example of the famous "Crosses" in St. Petersburg, the author of the project was A.G. Trambitsky.

During the walk, do not hesitate to ask questions. Our guides spent a lot of time in prison, saw a lot with their own eyes, and they will tell you like no one else - honestly, simply and a little shocking. You will find out who the container people are, how to “push a horse”, be surprised by the ingenuity of the convicts, see what is left of the Church of St. Nicholas and the Catholic chapel, visit and be able to try on the cells of life prisoners and much more.

In the new version of the Lukissky prison, not only familiarization tours are held, various paid and free exhibitions, concerts, performances, private events, fairs are held from time to time, there is a bar and a dance floor, they have also founded their own studios here more than 650 artists, musicians, dancers, designers, inventors and other creative personalities.

Tickets for the tour can be purchased on site, in the bar of Lukiski prison in winter and in the information center - on the street in summer, but we strongly recommend buying tickets in advance, as there may not be any available seats.

Purchased tickets cannot be exchanged or returned.

We recommend being there in advance, at least 10 minutes before the start of the tour. Unless signs or directions indicate otherwise, the tour begins at the prison church building, immediately after entering the prison. On the right side there will be steps leading up to the church itself.

The duration of the walk is about 2 hours.

Children under 7 years old accompanied by adults can participate for free.
There is no age limit for the day excursion, but the night excursion is strictly from 18 years old. The excursions differ in theme, stories, and route. The order of visiting the excursions does not matter.

A walk through the prison takes place both on the street and inside the building, so we ask you to dress in accordance with the weather conditions.

The visitor is responsible for the damage caused, his own safety, behavior and compliance with the rules on the territory of the prison.
