We continue "Musical travels around the world with Eirim Velička"! This afternoon, the evening guide will introduce you to enchanting Persian classical and Iranian folk music - wonderful recordings and Eirim's stories will be heard. If there is a Homeland of Music somewhere in this world, it is that Homeland - Persia. The musical tradition that was born here two and a half millennia ago, despite the upheavals and troubles, has remained alive to this day and is very popular with listeners. Vocal music is mostly based on old Persian poetry - verses by Rumi, Hafiz, Saadi, Atar, and other Persian poets are played here. What are they about? About roses and nightingales, black eyes of a beloved woman, wine. Melodic vocal embellishments resemble calligraphic ornaments, and hypnotic rhythms respond to heartbeats. Classical Persian music is distinguished by the distinctive timbres of musical instruments. The tar (long-necked lute), santoor (cymbals), nei (long nande flute), kemancha (four-stringed Persian violin) are played here. They are supported by the tombak (a cup-shaped drum) and the daf (a large frame drum with bells).
Kitada's teacher Jalaladin Rumi said: "Music is the creaking of the gates of Heaven!" Then one insolent fool shot back at him: "I don't like the creaking of the gate!" And Jalaldadin answered him thus: "I hear the gates opening, and you hear them closing!"
The afternoon will feature authentic recordings of Persian classical and Iranian folk music, folk songs sung by Shusha, and works performed by Ney (long reed flute) virtuoso Hassan Kassaī. The culmination of the event is the album, which in 2003 recorded by band Dastan and singer Parissa.
Ethnomusicologist Eirim Velička will lead the evening.
CLOSER TO MUSIC - these are not concerts, but evenings of meetings with music, led by interesting "companions" - musicologists, musicians, music lovers - fans of a certain genre, composer, instrument, performer or country's musical culture. They talk about the peculiarities of this music, demonstrate it live, select characteristic recordings for listening. The recordings are reproduced in high quality from vinyl records or high-resolution digital files - this allows you to feel the specific emotional content, evaluate the nuances of the performance, and reveal the depths of this music.
