The second concert of the Baltic and Nordic Music Festival will intrigue all music news catchers. The key words of this concert are Lithuanian and Norwegian folk songs, psalms, which will be the main riffs of the program, and around them will be arranged the songs of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, Edvard Grieg, Povilas Syrrist-Gelgota, Vitalijs Neugasimovs and other authors.
Povilas Syrrist-Gelgota, who sings, plays the viola, and creates his own compositions, is always looking for meaningful contexts of identity. "I work in an international environment - my colleagues and friends are from 20 countries around the world," is how Mr. Syrrist-Gelgota, who often appears in musical projects with his wife, cellist Toril Syrrist, presents his environment.
The repertoire of the Chopinist Šviešė Čepliauskaitė, who performs a lot in Lithuania and abroad, includes not only her beloved musical literature of the romantic era, but she often becomes the godmother of new piano works by Lithuanian composers.
Being a laureate and audience member of many international competitions, the Italian clarinetist and composer Antonello Timpani pays great attention to contemporary music and is a tireless promoter of clarinet music works among professional and amateur groups.
Thus, the Baltic and Viking spirit will be conveyed by musicians living in Lithuania, Italy and Norway, the final touches of which will be made a few days before the concert.
