What can warm up the dark Lithuanian December more than the musical fire from Spain? A fire that fuses blues, funk, soul, afrobeat and rock traditions. All this is contained in the creation of the group from Madrid "Freedonia". Musicians who have already visited Lithuania are coming back with a bang!

The sound of the group formed in 2006 is particularly rich. First we hear the impressive voice of Mike Sitte. As befits a representative of the highest-level blues or soul tradition, who has absorbed the influence of Etta James, Aretha Franklin and other legends, her vocals meander through the most diverse emotional planes - here we feel strength, euphoria, melancholy, and fury. But Maika is only part of the group. Next to it, we hear an impressive instrumental side: a sometimes bluesy, sometimes funk stylistic rhythm that doesn't let you sit down quietly, delicate guitar parts and, of course, a powerful brass section. Wind instruments give the music a lot of new colors, both with mutual variations and drifting towards Afrobeat or other stylistics.

Besides the musical level, the ideological level is also worthy of attention, which is revealed both in the lyrics and in the activities. Inspired by both global trends and, perhaps, the funk and soul spirit of the 70s, the group does not shy away from singing about global problems, from social injustice to ecological catastrophes. It's not just criticism though, Freedonia aims to spread hope and optimism. Not only that, the group is a frequent guest at various support concerts and social events.

During its short existence, Freedonia managed to release four studio albums: in 2012, the debut "Freedonia" appeared, in 2014 - "Dignity and Freedom", in 2017 the audience was delighted with the double album "Shenobi", and In 2019, Conciencia, inspired by the speech of writer Jose Saramago, saw the light of day. The band's new single "Cheap Love" was recently released. The group has participated in many significant festivals and has recommended itself as a particularly strong concert group. And how can it be otherwise, if Freedonia is both a strong vocalist, and excellent instrumentalists, and music that invites you to create a more beautiful and just world through a frenetic, unstoppable rhythm and colorful melodies.
