One of the most prominent voices of the Lithuanian opera, maestro Virgilijus Noreika would have celebrated his 90th birthday this year. On this special occasion, his best students and stage colleagues invite you to honor the Maestro's memory of a concert featuring its repertoire pearls and excerpts from operas.
The stage will feature prominent soloists: tenors Edgar Montvidas and Kristian Benedikt, baritone Dainius Puišys, Laimonas Pautienius and Eugenijus Chrebtovas. They will be joined by Soprano Darija Augustan of Croatia, winner of the 3rd International Virgil Noreika Singers Competition. Loreta Bartusevičiūtė-Noreikienė, the spouse of the maestro, will also be attended by musicologist Viktoras Gerulaitis. The longtime partners of V. Noreika's stage Piano Povilas Jaraminas, Lina Giedraitytė and Rasa Biveinienė will accompany soloists to the sensitive interpretation of works by legendary tenor.
Virgilijus Noreika was not only a legendary opera soloist, but also an educator who raised a whole bunch of today's opera stars. During his studies, he was admitted to the Opera and Ballet Theater, and later sang in the world's most famous scenes, including the Paris Grand Opera, Hamburg, Berlin, Stockholm, Buenos Aires, Chicago, Bucharest, Warsaw and Prague. His voice featured more than 800 solo concerts in Europe, America, Asia and Australia.
