Celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, the Kaunas Philharmonic invites you to another concert dedicated to this occasion, where the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, Kaunas State Choir, Norwegian pianist Marina Kan Selvik and conductor Robertas Šervenikas Ludwig van Beethoven and Edward Grieg's works. An exclusive and rich program awaits listeners.
1901 The symphonic poem "In the Forest" is the first symphony of M. K. Čiurlionis. He was written by the nobleman Michał Zamojski for a contest, where he earned a special jury praise. The poem was dedicated to a friend, Polish composer Eugeniusz Morawski. As the most famous researcher of M. K. Čiurlionis' creative work, musicologist prof. Vytautas Landsbergis, "The poem of Čiurlionis is not the action, but in a special emotional state. These characters are feelings, movement. Images seem to be different, but movement is essentially only two: the state of peace and anxiety, the intent."
L. van Beethoven's fantasy for piano, choir and orchestra C-Moll, op. 80, often referred to as "choral fantasy". It is an exceptional work that has become a symbolic prophet of the ninth symphony, and with its ambitions, the forces of the performers and the quality of composition that it has nothing to do with it.
The evening will be crowned with one of the most beautiful works of the Romantic era-E. Grieg's concert for the piano A-Moll, Op. 16. This is the only piece of this genre that the composer has been completed, even though he has improved this concert throughout his life. The exceptional features of the work are the intonation of Norwegian national music and the virtuoso solo party, with its power and mood gamut's breadth characteristic character. Since its premiere, the work has always been found in abundant ovations and to this day has been on the most common piano concerts.
Norwegian pianist Marina Kan Selvik, a Norwegian pianist, is next to the prominent Lithuanian collectives, there are many international competitions such as J. Vītols in Latvia, the Nordic piano competition in Sweden, German Piano Open in Germany or Clam in Spain. She has performed at Oslo Chamber Music, Kyoto, Musical Chairs, Eurasia Music Games, Bergen and Fjord Classics. As a soloist played with Bergen Philharmonic, Norwegian Radio, Trondheim Symphony, Armenian National Philharmonic, Alicante Symphony Orchestras, as well as with Kaunas City Symphony and Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestras.
