This year we celebrate the 120th anniversary of the birth of a prominent Lithuanian composer and pianist Vytautas Bacevičius (1905-1970). The creator closely related to the city of Kaunas is one of the brightest of the 20th century. Lithuanian modernists whose music is filled with philosophical vision of the world and cosmological ideas. According to V. Bacevičius' most prominent pianist Gabrielius Alekna, "Bacevičius was the first internationally acclaimed Lithuanian instrumental music performer. As if responding to these thoughts, the public institution Akantas was 2024. He organized an international competition for composers and is organizing an international pianist competition this year. The competition is dedicated to V. Bacevičius and the co -contemporary music, which is performed by works created over the last hundred years. The International Competition Commission consists of well-known music professionals: Gabrielius Alekna (chairman of the commission, US-Lithuanian), Angelina Gadeliya (US-Ukraina), Laura Mikkola (France-Somitia), Lina Navickaitė-Martinelli (Lithuania), Cezary Sanocki (Poland).
In the I competition, participants presented virtuoso and freely chosen works to the members of the commission. The 2nd round competition will take place on September 11th. Kaunas Juozas Gruodis Conservatoire. The contestants will interpret the music of V. Bacevičius, perform works of composers of their country, freely chosen works, and in 2024. Compositions of the winners of the composers of V. Bacevičius. The premiere of composers of the United Kingdom, Singapore and Mongolian-China will sound.
The 3rd round - a concert with the orchestra and the winners' award - will take place on September 14th. At 5pm. Kaunas State Philharmonic Hall. The finalists will play with the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra (chief conductor Constantine Orbelian) and will be accompanied by maestro Martynas Staškus. Participants chose concerts by Maurice Ravel, George Gershwin, Grażyna Bacewicz and Tomas Kutavičius for the III tour. We hope that thanks to the III round, we will have the opportunity to hear a special fiesta of piano music, with the Steinwey instrument titled by the piano king. It can be said that September 14th. Bacevičius (September 9), which we will all trust not only the final chords of the competition, but also a colorful, virtuoso and youthful program.
