Celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, his work is still a source of inspiration for many artists, and his music is excited and fascinated by the hearts of listeners. The project "Following Čiurlionis" is an interpretation of Lithuanian genius music, whose beauty, fragility and greatness is presented by two masters of jazz and improvisational music - Dmitry Golovanov and Jan Maksimovich, the masters of jazz and improvisational music.
The concert program consists of arranged by M. K. Čiurlionis preludes for the piano. Preludes, as a historically formed genre of improvisational music, fits well with the philosophy of jazz masters and improvisers. Their skills and experience allow you to competently develop a possible scenario of M. K. Čiurlionis' music development.
Famous Lithuanian jazz and improvisational musicians - saxophonist J. Maksimovičius and pianist D. Golovanov - who have prepared the program - are vivid and active participants of cultural life who performed on important scenes of the country, dedicated artists and active and respected educators.
The program uniquely reveals the attitude towards the interpretation of M. K. Čiurlionis' music: it develops the cultural dialogue between classical music, contemporary jazz and improvisation. When interpreting preludes, music renounces jazz stereotypes, using authentic motifs characteristic elements of M. K. Čiurlionis' harmony and music. This duo, which is almost a telepathic connection, gives meaning to M. K. Čiurlionis' music, transforming and re -refining it into large improvisational forms.
The latest, 2025 will be presented during the concert. The CD "After Čiurlionis" has been released, which will be available to the listeners after the concert.
