Probably, every Lithuanian remembers the motif from the famous Údris aria, which begins with the words "I will decorate a horse's head with a pinavia". The author of this work, the legendary composer of Lithuanian operas Vytautas Klova, born 100 years ago, wrote six operas with which he extended and significantly enriched the development of the national opera. As musicologist Jūratė Vyliūtė says, "with his first opera Pilėnai, he already showed a bright talent as a melodist, creative maturity, achieved great popularity, and was named a classic of Lithuanian opera". V. Klova's abundant, diverse creative heritage significantly contributed to the development of Lithuanian professional music. The composer was most famous for his operas, but he also actively wrote symphonic, chamber, choral, and vocal music. he relied on the traditions of classicism, folk romanticism, developed the themes of the nation and its history, the relationship between man and nature.

In commemoration of the significant anniversary of V. Klova, the Kaunas State Philharmonic invites the listeners to a memorable evening, which will bring back to the stage well-known and somewhat forgotten works of the composer. The concert will feature the colorful suite from the opera "American Tragedy", choruses from the operas "Two Swords" and "Castles", memorable and dramatic arias from the operas "Vaiva", "Ave Vita" and others.
