Duo Zubov
Sonata Deveikytė-Zubovienė and Rokas Zubovas (piano duo)
Claude Debussy, Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, Olivier Messiaen, Nijolė Sinkevičiūtė
One of the most famous French toulouse choral music ensemble Antiphone, led by Professor Rolandas Muleika, and Sonata and Rock Zubov's piano, will present a unique, intercultural program. It is an extraordinary dialogue between two musical geniuses: Frenchman Claude Debussy and Lithuanian Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, whose work is united by the common theme of the sea. This dialogue will be supplemented by a world premiere - a work "7 Reflection" created by composer Nijolė Sinkevičiūtė, specially for this concert, for the choir and piano for four hands according to Oscar Milašius' poetic texts.
The creative relationship between M. K. Čiurlionis and C. Debussy was indirectly as early as 1903, when both composers, unaware of each other, began writing symphonic works with sea motifs. C. Debussy created one of his most significant works, the symphonic tripse "La Mer" ("Sea"), and M. K. Čiurlionis - an epic symphonic poem, also called "Sea" (or "Maras"). The composers of different cultural experiences in their musical opuses subtly conveyed the eternal beauty, its strength and mystery.
The fates of both works were different - C. Debussy's "Sea" quickly became a masterpiece of world -important music, while M. K. Čiurlionis' work was long awaited for recognition in his authentic version, which was restored only after Lithuania regained its independence.
These two compositions for the first time in history, piano transcriptions are combined into one concert program on the initiative of Zubov, and now complemented by choral works and the new work of N. Sinkevičiūtė, and are revealed by an even wider musical and cultural dimension.
Pianist R. Zubov says that a special creative and spiritual connection with R. Muleika began in the study of the Academy of Music and now, more than three decades later, this friendship turns into an inspiring and sensitive musical project revealing a new dialogue between Lithuania and France.
We invite you to experience this special musical journey together, where sounds become colors and the sea is an eternal source of inspiration.
