Rarely performed music often hides special discoveries. In this concert, Dalia Dėdinskaitė, one of the most prominent violinists in Lithuania, and Martin Sturfält, an internationally acclaimed Swedish pianist, meet - they present a program where Lithuanian memory, Swedish romanticism and modern Baltic music sensibility meet.

Joseph Achronos Sonata No. 2 and Wilhelm Stenhammar's Sonata will be played in Lithuania for the first time. These are two different, yet evocative compositions for violin and piano. Achrono's sonata intertwines virtuosity, emotional tension and a vivid sense of inner drama - it is music that demands not only technical mastery from the performers, but also great ensemble concentration. Stenhammar's sonata opens up another world: a wide romantic flow, transparent lyricism and the restrained but deep emotional breath characteristic of Swedish music.

The program will be complemented by the world-renowned Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks' "Little Summer Music", dedicated to the author's 80th anniversary. It is a bright, meditative piece full of inspirations of nature, silence and inner peace.

About the performers

Dalia Dėdinskaitė (violin)
One of the most prominent Lithuanian violinists, actively performing as a soloist, chamber music performer, concertmaster of orchestras and initiator of cultural projects. She won the main prize at the international competition "Violine in Dresden" in Germany, after which she was invited to perform L. van Beethoven's Violin Concerto at the festival "Dresdner Musikfestspiele". The violinist has performed in prestigious halls in Europe and the USA, including the Musikverein in Vienna, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Warsaw Philharmonic, the Juilliard School in New York, and the Lithuanian National Philharmonic. D. Dėdinskaitė was the concertmaster of the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra and later the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra.

Martin Sturfält (piano, Sweden)
Swedish pianist developing an international career, performing as a soloist, recitalist, chamber music partner and recording artist. He performs a wide repertoire from baroque to contemporary music, but is especially appreciated for his attention to Swedish music.

The pianist studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. He has performed in many of Sweden's most important halls, including London's Wigmore Hall, Barbican Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw and Brussels' Palais des Beaux-Arts.

M. Sturfält has appeared with the Bavarian Radio Symphony, NHK, Hallé, Swedish Radio Symphony, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic and other orchestras, collaborated with conductors Herbert Blomstedt, Daniel Harding, Sir Mark Elder, Thom Dausgaard, Andrew Manze and others. His recordings of works by Swedish composers, including an album of Wilhelm Stenhammar's piano music, have received high international critical acclaim.
