V INTERNATIONAL JOSEPH ACHRON MUSIC FESTIVAL "Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind" Boris BROVTSYN (violin, Austria) Monika URBONAITĖ (violin) Jurgis JUOZAPAITIS (viola) Gleb PYŠNIAK (cello) Vytautas GIEDRAITIS (clarinet) One of the brightest chamber music evenings of the festival will bring together an exceptional ensemble of performers: a violinist recognized on the international stage Boris Brovtsyn, one of the most outstanding performers of Lithuanian chamber music - violinist Monika Urbonaitė, violist Jurgis Juozapaitis, cellist Gleb Pyšniakas - and one of the country's most important clarinetists Vytautas Giedraitis. These musicians are united by active concert activity, international experience and a sensitive sense of chamber music partnership. The program will meet different eras, cultures and musical languages. Felix Mendelssohn's String Quartet in A Minor No. 2, Op. 13 is one of the composer's early chamber music masterpieces, full of romantic tension and songfulness. Next to it, Joseph Achron's "Elegy" will be performed, which will be performed in Lithuania for the first time. In the center of the evening - "Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind" by Osvald Golijov for clarinet and string quartet, also presented for the first time in Lithuania. It is a work inspired by the 13th century. figures of Kabbalah teacher Isaac the Blind and Jewish musical traditions. It features echoes of prayer, chant, klezmer music and contemporary chamber music. The clarinet here becomes the main voice of the story — sometimes singing, sometimes crying or dancing, while the strings create an intense, changing musical landscape. This is an evening in which the music of different eras and cultures will open up through a strong chamber dialogue, combining the sensitivity of romanticism, echoes of the Jewish tradition and modern musical imagination.
