Per Giunt - Pavel Giunter and Guntars Freibergs - a well-known percussionist duo to Lithuanian audiences and Danish cellist Tobias van der Pals will meet on stage. The Per Giunt duo, which has been making music together for many years, creates inventive programs and opens up the wide range of percussion instruments to the listeners. In their music, percussion becomes an instrument not only of rhythm, but also of timbre, color and space. Tobias van der Pals, who will join the duo, will enrich the program with the cantilena of the cello, a timbre close to the human voice and the rich sound of strings. Together, these performers will create a program where baroque expression meets contemporary meditation, rhythmic energy and sensitive chamber dialogue. The program will include works by Antonio Vivaldi, Osvald Golijov, Anna Ignatowicz-Glińska, Leopold van der Pals, Anders Koppel and Arvo Pärt. This is music where different eras and aesthetics meet, but everything is united by the attention to sound, resonance and live interaction of the performers on stage. Leopold van der Pals' Sonata for Solo Cello, arranged by Tobias van der Pals, in the concert brings a personal thread of family history to the program and opens up the performer's close connection with his family's musical legacy. Guntars Freibergs (percussion, Latvia) The Per Giunt percussion duo is a creative partnership of two bright artists from the Baltic countries. One of the most famous Lithuanian percussionists Pavel Giunter and the Latvian percussionist Guntars Freibergs have been making music together for almost a decade, creating programs in which percussion reveals itself as an independent, colorful and extremely universal voice of chamber music. Pavel Giunter is the founder of the Giunter Percussion ensemble, which actively performs in Lithuania and abroad. He participates in classical, contemporary, world music and jazz projects, has collaborated with the Lithuanian National Symphony, Lithuanian State Symphony, St. Christopher's chamber orchestras, various chamber ensembles and soloists. Mr. Giunter has performed with such distinguished musicians as Martha Argerich, Nelson Freire, Julian Rachlin, David Gering and others. Guntars Freibergs studied at the Conservatoire de Strasbourg, the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and the Anton Bruckner University in Linz, where he obtained a master's degree. He is a laureate of international competitions, having won the Grand Prix at Days of Percussion in Italy and the II prize at the Salzburg International Marimba Competition. As a soloist, G. Freibergs performed with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonietta Rīga, Latvian National Opera Orchestra and other groups. The performer has been nominated three times for the Latvian Grand Music Award. "Per Giunt" programs combine classical music interpretations with works by contemporary Baltic composers. One of the most important aspirations of the duo is to expand the percussion repertoire and popularize the music of the Baltic region. Tobias van der Pals (cello, Denmark) Swedish and Danish cellist Tobias van der Pals is appreciated in the international press for his warm, expressive sound and evocative musicianship. He studied at Copenhagen's Royal Academy of Music, Piteå Academy of Music, London's Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, he improved with famous cello pedagogues and at master courses in Europe. As a soloist and chamber music performer, T. van der Pals performs in Scandinavia, the United Kingdom, Japan and various European countries. He has appeared at New York's Carnegie Hall, where he received exceptional appreciation from the audience after his debut. The performer is a frequent guest of international festivals, an artistic director and an active supporter of chamber music. As a member of the Van der Pals Quartet, he pays a lot of attention to the chamber repertoire, and has recorded music for the CPO, Gateway Music and DaCapo publishing houses. A special place in T. van der Pals' creative activity is the research and dissemination of the music of his relative, the composer Leopold van der Pals. The cellist has prepared, edited and recorded a number of works by this composer, thus bringing back to the concert space a significant, but rarely heard, heritage of European music.
