"Streetcar of Desires" is one of the most famous plays of US playwright Tennessee Williams, which has conquered theater stages all over the world and has become an example of dramaturgy classics. This is not the first production of this author's work in Telšiai - one of them, titled "Doomed House", was presented thirty years ago by director Laima Adomaitienė (now - F. Feiferė).

Tennessee Williams is an American playwright known for his powerful psychological dramas such as A Streetcar Named Desire, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Glass Menagerie and many others. His works are characterized by psychologically complex pictures of characters, fragility of relationships and subtle exploration of internal conflicts.

"Tram of Desires" tells the story of Blanche Dubois, a woman who seeks refuge with her sister Stella and her husband Stanley after great personal tragedies. But unable to give up her elegance and delicacy, Blanche faces her inner demons, which, along with the psychological tension that torments her, quickly begin to destroy her from the inside. In the center of the play, two different worlds meet: the sensitive and idealizing Blanche and the primitive and rough Stanley. The conflict between these two worlds reveals how fragile the human spirit is when faced with unacceptable reality and incompatible ideals.

This "Tram of Desires" production does not aim to illustrate a specific era. The whole focus is on the internal and external psychological conflicts of the characters, which is the main reason why this play is appreciated all over the world. Despite the context, the play explores themes of lust, relationships and the search for happiness that are still relevant today. Therefore, it will be easy for the audience to immerse themselves in this theatrical experience and surrender to the subtle and familiar themes dictated by the director and playwright.
