The title of the program "Bird Song" created by mezzo-soprano Renata Dubinskaitė and pianist Jonė Punytė-Svigarienė was inspired by the fairy tale of the Pomeranian region of Lithuania about a bird-woman with a tragic fate and the theater performance born on the basis of this story, which features the song cycle "Saulos dainos" by Raminta Šerkšnytė (awarded with the "Golden Stage Cross" for the music for the play "Saula"). The program is based on songs by contemporary Lithuanian composers that convey the sound of a woman's inner world. Their performance, nurtured and matured together with the songwriters, was evaluated by music critics as deeply emotionally felt, masterfully musically articulated, expressively creating almost cinematic images.
The basis of this program is the work of women - the songs of Raminta Šerkšnytė, Loreta Narvilaitė, Dalia Raudonikytė-With, Zita Bružaitė, supplemented by the opus of Anatolijus Šenderovs and Algirdas Martinaitis. The concert will feature not only bird-women, but also other colorful female characters - from the voluptuous Betrothed of the Old Testament in A. Šenderov's "Song of Sulamita" to the modern teenager A. Martinaitis in "Elixir of Love". Listeners will hear a wide variety of vocal music genres and moods - lullabies, laments, love songs, sonnets and religious mysteries; contemplative, dramatic and satirical compositions; miniatures and mono-operas. The program will also reveal the variety of styles characteristic of contemporary Lithuanian composers: from works based on folklore intonations, jazz rhythms or conscious quotes from different musical styles. Renata Dubinskaitė studied art history and theory at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, in 2011. defended his doctoral thesis in art studies. in 2015 completed bachelor's studies in solo singing at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater and in 2023 master's studies at the Music Academy of Vytautas the Great University (class of Prof. Vl. Prudnikov). He is studying baroque vocals in Bologna with professor Fernando Coreiro Opa. R. Dubinskaitė is the main soloist of the international early music ensemble "Canto Fiorito" (since 2013), the producer of this ensemble and the Kretinga Early Music Festival, as well as the singer of the duo "Duo Barocco" and creator of concert programs. in 2023 she founded the early music ensemble "Lux Maris". The singer's solo disc "Barbara Strozzi. La voce sola" (published by Brilliant Classics, Netherlands, 2021), whose recordings have been broadcast on BBC Radio, France Musique, US and Australian radio programs and received high praise from music critics. R. Dubinskaitė performed with the ensemble "I Gemelli" in prestigious concert halls - Amsterdam's "Concertgebouw" and Barcelona's "Palau de la Musica Catalana", Seville and Aix opera theaters; sang solo recitals and concert programs with the ensemble "Canto Fiorito" in Stockholm, Brussels, Namur, Oslo, Trondheim, Salzburg, Vienna, Brighton, Rostock, etc. From 2019 she appears with the Namur Chamber Choir (Belgium) and the early music ensemble Cappella Mediterranea in opera productions and concerts in such famous halls as the Royal Chapel of Versailles, the Bozar in Brussels, Radio France in Paris, the Lyon Auditorium, the Salzburg Opera Festival Space, etc. The singer has prepared the role of Holofernes in the stage production of A. Vivaldi's oratorio (directed by G. Varnas) and many roles in baroque operas: Nymph (L. Rossi's "Enchanted Castle"), Chesonia (G. Pagliardi's "Caligula") and others. Jonė Punytė-Svigarienė studied at the Juozas Naujalis Music Gymnasium in Kaunas, studied at LMTA, where she obtained a Doctor of Arts degree (2025). In 2001-2006, he studied at the University of Music and Theater in Stuttgart, and in 2004-2006 at the Trosingen University of Music, he studied the intricacies of playing the "hammerklavier" - an authentic old piano. The pianist successfully participated in competitions: Chamber Ensembles (1st place. Vilnius, 2000), International Singers and Concertmasters Competition (2nd place. Vilnius, 2005), International F. Schubert and Modern Music Competition Grace (1st prize and special prize. Austria, 2006). The performer participated in festivals in Lithuania, Germany, Italy, played with LMTA, VDU orchestras. She focuses a lot on contemporary as well as chamber music, especially the Lied song genre. J. Punytė-Svigarienė is the head of the Concertmaster Department of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater, lecturer, doctor of art and pedagogue of the National M.K. Čiurlionis School of Arts.
