Italian pianist Vincenzo De Martino, since 2015 living in Lithuania, he often creates programs based on the connections and parallels between Lithuanian and Italian musical cultures, known or discovered by himself. Among them: - "Deità silvane", "Portraits of Lithuania and Italy" (since 2022 played in various cities of both countries) and others.
This afternoon at the Užutrakis palace, the artist will present a new program "Echoes of Čiurlionis", which will fit into the echo of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mikalojus Konstantinos Čiurlionis. Although officially the jubilee year has already been crossed, this echo is truly endless - it is constantly reborn, giving meaning and popularizing the brilliant work of the Lithuanian composer and artist.
The program is a three-part musical journey that combines the sound worlds of Čiurlionis and other composers of Italian origin and reveals the connections between man, nature and the universe: I Peace; II Wrath; III Eternity. In the musical narrative, the intriguing and artistically valuable connections between Lithuanian and Italian musical culture, reflected in the 19th-20th centuries, are highlighted. junction in aesthetics and worldview.
Vincenzo De Martino was born in 1992. Cagliari (Italy). At the age of six, he started learning to play the piano with Elisabetta Steri. 2011-2015 studied at the State Conservatory of Cagliari Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (class of Prof. Maria Lucia Costa), where he obtained a bachelor's degree with the highest honors. 2015-2017 continued his studies at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater (class of Prof. Jurgis Karnavičius) and obtained a master's degree. in 2021 graduated from LMTA art doctorate.
The pianist actively participated in the concerts of Gabrielus Alekna, Pascal Devoyon, Gintaras Januševičius, Kevin Kenner, Francesco Libetta, Jean-Marco Luisada, Orazio Maionė, Claudio Martinez-Mehner, Pascal Nemirovski, Fali Pavri, Mūza Rubackytė, Irene Veneziano, Andriaus Žlabis and others. in conducted master's courses.
V. De Martino is a finalist and laureate of various international piano competitions, including the winner of the Stasios Vainiūnas International Piano Competition (2018). He has performed in Italy, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland and the Baltic countries as a soloist, accompanist and member of chamber ensembles.
The performer thoroughly researches the music of Lithuanian composers, writes about it in scientific journals and presents it at art research conferences. The works of these composers have long become an integral part of the pianist's repertoire.
For his creative activity, V. De Martino was awarded with a Letter of Gratitude from the President of the Republic of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaitė (2019).
