For ten years, pianist Gintaras Januševičius has been surprised by the inventive programs, including the unforgettable "Little Prince", "All Chopin Waltz", "New Colossus" or "Venice Merchant Stories". In each program, G. Januševičius seems to be a chameleon not only to other characters, but also moves to the next era, culture or musical style. Having, for many years, he thoroughly selects the works and as if he was piercing them into a seamless musical necklace, which he puts on stories, images, actor elements or even odors. With his innovative concert ideas, he is fascinated by the listeners of New York, Paris, London, Zurich, Rio de Janeiro, as well as returning to Lithuanian concert halls every year.
In the latest program Freylekh! (Lithuanian - fun, joy) G. Januševičius tells inspirational life stories of Jewish composers. "My grandmother was a Jew who has survived World War II. This program is a reflection of her smiles, optimism, and firmness," says the pianist. The general mood of the program - as the Yiddish word "freylekh - fun, uplifting, festive, inviting to dance and forget about the worries of life coatings. Program nails - Vladimir Horowitz arranged by Felix Mendelssohn's" Wedding Mark " Broadway musicals, the jazz dancing of Erwin Schulhoff, a ancestor of the European jazz, and the 7th Victor Ullmann Sonata, written in the concentration camp just before his death. Gintaras Januševičius, a pianist living in Germany and performing worldwide, became famous in 2004, becoming the youngest finalist of the International Montreal Piano Competition, and the Etudus-Paveiklis Op. 39 piano masters such as Jean-Philippe Collard, Kum-Sing Lee, Michel Dalberto, Benedett Lupo. As a soloist, he played more than 30 orchestras, introduced solo and chamber programs in many Lithuanian and German cities, appeared in halls like Barcelona's Palau de la Musica Catalana, Wiurzburg's residence, Montreal Wilfrid Pelletier, Madrid auditorium Tallinn Rahvusoopeer Estonia and others. The performer has participated in many international festivals including prestigious festivals Chopin Duszniki -zdroj (Poland), Mozartfest and Dresdner Musikfespiele (Germany), Festival Besançon (France) and others. In 2017, he founded the largest pianist Academy in the Baltic States, Klaipėda Piano Masters, and in 2021 joined the LRT classic team, where he cherishes his passion for musical education.
