Romances, love songs, retro music are currently popular, in demand, have their own audience, and are played frequently in different spaces and at different times. They are performed by various performers, from folklore ensembles to opera soloists.
The folklore ensemble "Nalšia" also dances romantic melodies with love and admiration - sometimes in the usual, "old-fashioned" way, and sometimes daring to deviate from the authentic traditions of music and singing, choosing newer, more familiar sounds and interpretation paths for today's listeners. For several years now, the ensemble has been trying to give romances a second life, to raise them to the level of works worthy of a high musical culture: starting with words - singing the lyrics of the best Lithuanian poets, ending with music together with jazz pianist Rytas Linge, who enriches the arrangements of romances with new, unexpected colors.
This is exactly what Nalšia's latest program "Dainoju Širvi" is all about. The exceptional lyricism of the most beautiful stanzas of the poet Paulius Širvis, the depth of his experiences, and the poet's extraordinary personality are mesmerizing, the poems beg to be sung. The synthesis of great poetry and the most beautiful romantic melodies loved by people makes the hearts of NALŠIOS singers flutter, we hope - will not leave the listeners indifferent either.
We are also very happy to present the long-awaited, long-awaited new CD of romance and love songs with the same name, released on the occasion of the band's 35th anniversary. The melodious lyrics of Mr. Širvis, which have been on the lips of "Nalšia" singers for almost a decade, are finally immortalized and can be accessible to all lovers of both his poetry and romances. And for us, Širvys continues to remain true songs, and truly sung, it seems, still waiting near Vilnius, near the city of fairy tales...
