Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, pianist Gintaras Januševičius and conductor Egidijus Kaveckas invite children to spend a cheerful and intriguing afternoon together with the legendary French children's hero Babar the elephant. The story of the composition of Francis Poulenc (1899-1963) about the elephant Babar began when the composer stayed at a villa in Brive-la-Gaillarde one summer with his little cousins and cousins. After a while, the children were so fascinated by his playing the piano that they proposed a game: they brought Jean de Brunhoff's book "The Story of Babar the Elephant", which was very popular at the time and was very loved by children, and asked F. Poulenc's adventures of the elephant... to play the piano! The composer began to freely improvise according to the situations described in the book, and later, after reviving his memories, created a musical composition with the same name.
The story tells about a young African elephant, Babar, whose mother is killed by a trophy hunter. Frightened, Babar escapes from the jungle to a big city, where he befriends an old lady who buys clothes for the elephant and hires a teacher. But after finding Babar, his friends invite him back to the jungle. And here, after eating a poisonous mushroom, the king of elephants dies. The crown is offered to Babar - after all, he lived among people and gained a lot of wisdom...
The story of Babar the elephant will be told this afternoon and pianist Gintaras Januševičius will play the piano. G. Januševičius studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater, later he continued his studies in Germany with professors Vladimir Krainev and Bernd Goetzke. Since 2004 The Hanover-based pianist devotes a lot of time to educational activities - G. Januševičius created the popular concert series "Plathner's Eleven" in this city, which he led for seven years. In 2014, he instantly became famous in Germany. the contest conceived by the pianist "Hanover Music Talent Exchange", and G. Janušević's piano academy "Klaipėda Piano Masters" successfully seeks recognition in Lithuania.
After the adventures of the elephant Babar, we will invite you to listen to short and charming songs by the American composer Leroy Anderson (1908- 1975) compositions "Syncopated Clock", "Cat Dancing Waltz" and "Printing Machine" for symphony orchestra. The Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will be led by one of the most professional conductors of the young generation in Lithuania, Dr. Egidijus Kaveckas.
