Like New Orleans in the United States, Klaipeda is a Lithuanian cradle of classical jazz. The only port city in Lithuania is a true port of cultural transformations, always the first to feel new trends in art and music.
Inspired by global musical winds, 1978. This is where the historic jazz music collective - Klaipeda Dixilendas - was formed. The group soon became one of the most popular and significant classical jazz groups in Lithuania, united by experienced, bright and peculiar jazz masters. Divorced by a deep sense of jazz style, precision and professional interpretation, artistry, and has repeatedly changed its name for four decades. Returned as Klaipeda Dixilend Memeland. This time the first group of Francis Narušis (founded and Department of Estradial Music at Klaipeda Faculties) was done this time by the saxophonist Laimonas Urbikas.
The new phase of the legendary collective was inspired by the desire and aim of L. Urbik to bring together traditional jazz lovers to bring together exclusive concerts. In the core of the Dixileland, a longtime member of the group, who added to the team as early as 1985. - drummer Edmundas Federavičius. The new team presents concert programs together with the most famous vocalists. This time the charismatic Kristina Jatautaitė, who is named the best soloist of Klaipeda, will give her voice.
