This team of performers is a true Lithuanian jazz elite who can decorate the most prestigious festival scenes. Jazz Cellar 11 is proud to present the new project "Born in 1959" in Vilnius for the first time in Vilnius.
The creator of the project, Arkady Gotesman, was born in 1959 and celebrated his anniversary last year. But the same 1959 was important to the jazz world globally: the US was born several pieces and albums that radically changed this genre of music. John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Don Cherry discovered new forms of expression, while Ornette Coleman introduced the concept of free improvisation. It is for these jazz pioneers and their legacy this project.
The project is the dedication of our time, which most of the music was created by a young and talented saxophonist, composer and arranger Karolis Šarkus, widely known not only for his author's projects, but also for performances with collaborative Jazz septet and Vilnius JJAZZ Ensemble.
And alongside the creator and composer of this project, the whole constellation of Lithuanian jazz: saxophonist Jan Maksimovičius, trumpeter Dominykas Vyšniauskas, pianist Dmitry Golovanov and bassist Eugenijus Kanevičius. Such a powerful team will ensure that this evening will simply be unforgettable.
