EXPANDED ARGENTIC CINEMA TOUR | Vilnius

Tuesday, February 3, 7 p.m. KKC will host the international project EXPANDED ARGENTIC CINEMA, during which three analog cinema and sound performances will be held by Andrea Saggiomo (IT), Marek Pluciennik (FIN), Riojim (FR).
After three solo performances - 20 min. duration improvisation in which all three artists will participate.

DOMESTICATION FILM SERIES by 70FPS aka Andrea Saggiomo
Live modified 16mm tape projections, with sound generated live from the projection using self-made photosensitive electrical circuits.
The series consists of at least six 16mm short films created for live performances. Its main theme is the process of domestication, an essential element of the human experience. The series explores the beauty and cruelty that domestication and self-domestication bring to our lives and world.
Each short film focuses on a different theme and uses a unique experimental film technique, be it filming, processing, editing, printing, projection or sound design.
Each film becomes the beginning of a radically different live cinematic concert, where the projector and the tape become instruments, and their manipulation simultaneously generates sound and transforms the image.

SOMATIC FIELDS by Marek Pluciennik

In his performance, the director pays tribute to the beginning of cinematography, breaking the sequential, industrial reproduction of film frames. It's an exploration of 35mm projection through the dissonance of manual filming and projection. He raises the question: What happens between frames when they lose the coherence of the industrial video progression and the perception of movement?
Pluciennik's work focuses on extended cinema, analogue film installations and live audiovisual performances. He uses hand-cranked cameras, modified projectors and modified cinematic processes to explore rhythm, materiality and perception.
The artist is also a curator and organizer, actively involved in the creation of intercultural and interdisciplinary media arts communities.

STROMBOLI LEFT HAND by Riojim
Tape and 16mm projector performance. 30 minutes
The projector and film are manipulated in real time, pouring the projected frame into a hazy montage that creates a new cinematic narrative. In the dark pulsation of the shutter, shapes emerge like islands that still need names.
Riojim's artistic training and sensibility lead him naturally to improvisation, defined as a quick and deep reaction to events, where each performance is created for a specific time and place. Echoing Jim Denley, the artist believes that to explore the moment of creation—when an idea, feeling, or gesture is expressed for the first time—is to engage in the most spectacular adventure imaginable, both for the artist and the audience.
