Dance styles have always been created in professional music. Leonard Bernstein's (1918-1990) orchestral suite "Symphonic Dances" from the musical "West Side Story" is one of the world's most performed works of contemporary classical music. The popularity of this work is also evidenced by the large number of arrangements - it was created for brass orchestra by the composer Paul Lavander. In the nine-part suite, which requires special virtuosity of the performers, we hear a whole bunch of different styles of dance music - cha-cha, mambo, Latin, etc. Inspired by L. Bernstein's refreshing suite, the Lithuanian Wind Symphony will also present other 19th-20th century pieces. interpretations of the symphonic dance genre: works by composers Arthur Sullivan, Camille Saint-Saëns, Arturo Márquez and the famous "Bolero" by Moaurice Ravel.
