There are concerts with only a few, but magnificent works in the program. This time, the echoes of extremely monumental opuses, which, due to their extremely complex scores, rarely reach concert halls, echo onto the stage of the Philharmonic.
At the beginning of the concert, the overture of the French romantic Édouard Lal's opera "The King of Ys" will be played. This opera, based on the legend of the sunken city of Ys in the Brittany region, is very popular with French audiences, but is much less known to listeners in other countries than the other works of this composer.
Samuel Barberi's Concerto for violin and orchestra fascinates with broad melodies and a very unique lyrical note. Broad melodic lines merge here with a vibrant folk tradition. Both of them, taking turns, create a special aura of reflective emotionality, so this concert becomes quite a musical challenge for the soloist. This concert by Mr. Barber will be performed by a guest from Japan, Mayumi Kanagawa, who is admired for her extremely rich sound and original interpretations of the works.
In the second part of the concert, the huge Symphony No. 1 by the master of symphonic music Anton Bruckner. 7 in E major, work, 19th century. occupying a special place in the pantheon of symphonic music. This symphony by A. Bruckner is called a memorial to Richard Wagner - it was completed during A. Bruckner's visit to Bayreuth, during the production of R. Wagner's opera "Parsifal". It was the last meeting of the great romantics.
