Laureate of the Lithuanian National Culture and Art Prize, conductor, professor of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater Robertas Šervenikas is celebrating his jubilee. The maestro is the artistic director and chief of the Kaunas State Choir. conductor, the second conductor of the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, has been conducting this ensemble for over 30 years. R. Šervenikas was the music director of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater for ten years. The conductor is especially appreciated for his active and diverse creative expression - new symphonic works by Lithuanian composers and suggestive and mature interpretations of contemporary and classical music. The maestro has performed in almost all European countries and other continents, collaborating with the world's most famous soloists.
The concert will feature Ludwig van Beethoven's overture "Egmont", the music composed for Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's drama. Contemporaries believe that Beethoven cherished the idea of writing music for "Faust" until the end of his life.
The son of an emigrant from Spain, one of the most famous of the 19th century. of the second half of the French instrumental music creators Édouard Lalo's Concerto for cello and orchestra in D minor will be performed by one of the most promising Estonian cellists, Marcelis Johannes Kits, who won the 3rd place at the Queen Elizabeth Cello Competition in Brussels and the 1st place at the George Enescu Competition in Bucharest, who has already given a recital at New York's Carnegie Hall.
The German composer Johannes Brahms is often called the last of the famous "B trio" (Bach-Beethoven-Brahms), he was one of the many who felt the influence of Beethoven for a long time - after all, he never stopped admiring Beethoven's genius, especially his symphonies. Brahms spent more than twenty years writing his First Symphony in C minor, played tonight (a rare occurrence in the history of music!) - perfecting it with such precision - and finished it in 1876.
