Composer Faustas Latėnas (1956-2020) is one of the most prominent artists of this era, who created many orchestral, chamber, choral and other works of various genres. However, he devoted his life mainly to theater music. The composer has composed music for more than 200 theater productions, 9 feature films, 20 documentaries and 5 television productions. Among his most famous works is the music for the plays "Uncle Vania", "There will be no death here", "Smile to us, Lord", "Revisor", "Pirosmani, Pirosmani...", "Hamlet", "Othello" and many others directed by Rim Tumin. 2014 F. Latėnai was awarded the National Culture and Art Prize for the sound of the Lithuanian theater, music as a full-fledged participant in the theatrical event. "His music is simply a sea without limits, which in its time filled the entire theatrical space of Lithuania, and later - also outside of Lithuania. Now he is gone, but that music remains with us," wrote cultural journalist and theater reviewer Julijus Lozoraitis. Musicologist Rūta Gaidamavičiūtė commented on his impressive chamber works: "Faustos Latėnas' work is the best example that today's music can be listened to many times.
