In the week before Easter, the Lithuanian Symphony Wind Orchestra, conducted by Martynas Staškaus, invites you to the program "Musical enigma" dedicated to reflection on the great mystery of Easter - the miracle of death and resurrection. This program combines the grandeur of the Baroque and the power of contemporary wind music. The concert will begin with composer Johann Sebastian Bach's chorale prelude O head, bloody wounded - a deep meditation on suffering leading to the greatness of the famous Little Fugue. The concert will be continued by two works of contemporary American composers - Frank Ticheli's Sanctuary full of peace and spiritual strength and David Maslanka's short symphony Give Us This Day, which embodies human hope and everyday grace in a monumental sound. The culmination of the concert is British composer Edward Elgar's brilliant piece Enigma Variations (arranged by T. Laughlin), whose mystery (enigma) motif will subtly reflect the eternal mystery of being and faith, turning this concert into a contemplative experience of waiting for Easter.
