Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, led by the artistic director and chief. conductor Gintaras Rinkevičius, for the second year in a row invites you to welcome the summer with solo concerts of the most famous Lithuanian artists. After last year's hugely successful recital by Edgar Montvid, this year the stage of the LVSO concert hall is given over to one of the most famous Lithuanian pianists, Lukas Geniusus.
L. Geniuš is firmly established as one of the most interesting and bright pianists of his generation. Praised for his talent and maturity (The Guardian), he is regularly invited to perform recitals in the world's prestigious concert halls such as London's Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, Paris' Salle Gaveau, Louvre Auditorium, New York's Frick Collection, Washington Phillips Collection, Genoa Teatro Carlo Felice, Milan Sala Verdi and others.
Due to his characteristic curiosity and broad musical interests, L. Geniušas is characterized by a wide spectrum of performed music, from baroque to contemporary music. His musical repertoire extends from L. van Beethoven's Piano Concertos to P. Hindemith's "Ludus Tonalis" and works by J. Adams. The pianist is a passionate fan of chamber music and an extremely curious performer who is happy to perform the works of contemporary composers or undertake the revival of repertoire rarely heard in concert halls. Works by L. van Beethoven, J. Brahms, S. Rachmaninoff, F. Chopin, as well as chamber music recordings. His first recording of S. Prokofiev's piano sonatas, released by Mirare in 2019. was awarded the "Recital of the Year" awards by Choc de Classica and Diapason magazine. in 2022 together with the opera soloist Asmik Grigorian, the pianist won the prestigious Gramophone classical music award for their joint work - Sergei Rachmaninov's romance album Dissonance.
Born in 1990. In Moscow, in a family of famous musicians, L. Geniušas began his musical career at the age of five at the F. Chopin College of Music in Moscow, which he graduated with the highest grades in 2008. After that, he continued his studies at the Moscow Conservatory, in the class of his grandmother, the famous piano professor Vera Gornostajeva. L. Geniušas became the laureate of several prestigious international competitions, including the International P. Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 2015. (II places) and the International F. Chopin Competition in 2010. (II place). Since 2015 Lukas Geniušas is a participant of the philanthropic project "Looking at the stars" in Toronto.
