Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra
Conductor Gintaras Rinkevičius
Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, led by artistic director and chief. Conductor Maestro Gintaras Rinkevičius, along with piano virtuoso Alexander Paley, presents an exclusive concert cycle: five special evenings with all the most famous of the 19th century. Piano virtuoso, composer and educator Anton Rubinstein (1829-1894) for piano and orchestra concerts.
Born in a Jewish family in Moldova, A. Rubinstein received his first piano lessons from his mother. A little later he heard him and began to teach him a prominent pianist and educator Alexander Villaing. At the age of 9, Mr Rubinstein had already organized his first public shows, and at the age of 11, Frédéric Chopin, Franz Lisz and Felix Mendelssohn performed in Paris. In 1854, at the age of 24, Rubinstein organized a four-year concert tour in Europe, which very quickly established his name as a completely mature pianist virtuoso and a widely regarded composer. Ignas Moscheles wrote after one of the concerts of this tour what later became a universal opinion about Rubinstein: "He is not subordinate to anyone with power and performance." Paley will do this evening in 1851. Created the second Concert of A. Rubinstein for the piano F-Dur.
In the second part of the concert, listeners will be able to hear the first symphony of Austrian music genius Gustav Mahler (1860-1911), also known as Titan. It is an allusion to the popular novel of Jean Paul of the same name, whose main character defends his inner force from evil of the world. In the symphony, the composer combined the image of a symphonic poem and the storyline with the classic symphony structure. Such an ambitious idea of G. Mahler has changed the symphony genre forever.
