The ensemble's work immediately came into the horizons of jazz music fans and critics-in 1966, their albums Dream Weaver and Love In became one of the most popular in America. In the same year, the Forest Flower: Live AT Monterey Quartet combined the worlds of jazz and growing rock audiences - for the first time in jazz history, a million sold copies sold. Despite the commercial success, Lloyd decided to leave the public and moved to the Big Sur area in California, seeking spiritual peace and a deeper connection with music. "Music is a healing force. It manages to transcend all the boundaries, touch the depths of the heart. I can express everything that lies in me, words do not need it," said a musician practicing transcendental meditation. This period of self -reflection has made it possible to get to know various musical traditions and philosophies that further enriched his work: “Jazz is the music of freedom and amazement. It inspires, elevates, touches the heart and heals. It transforms. ” During that period, the saxophonist collaborated with the well -known rock band The Beach Boys, created and worked with them in the studio and concerts. Together with auxiliary musicians, he founded a band Celebration and recorded two albums. Ch. Lloyd can be heard in Canned Heat, The Doors and others. In the middle of the eighties, the musician returned to the jazz scene with a new inspiration and released a series of albums reflecting the changing saxophonist's musical vision. New musical partners: pianist Jason Moran, drummer Billy Higgins and guitarist John Abercrombie have further expanded the sound spectrum. Lloyd calls himself a "audio seeker" who is constantly exploring the transforming power of music: "My music breathes. It is a sound mysticism. I am a sound seeker, I am fascinated by what the sound can do, how it changes molecules and elevates people."
