The action takes place in the Duchy of Brabant, where the young Duchess Elza is wrongly accused of killing her brother. Covered with despair, she calls the divine help, and her prayer is listened to - a mysterious knight, Lohengrin, son of the Gral King Parsifal, arrives with a swan ship. He promises to defend and marry Elza, but with one condition: she will never be able to ask his name or origin. And if he breaks this requirement, the knight will be forced to leave it. The characters of Lohengrin and Elza and the forbidden issue become the axis of the Opera of Wagner, while highlighting the contrasts between divinity and earthly matter, early medieval Christianity and German paganism.
