Eirimas Velička presents the new series of "Closer to Music" events "Musical tours around the world"! This Sunday afternoon we dedicate to the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and the Sufi Qawali music of Pakistan. Pakistani Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is a legend in the world of music, with excellent vocal technique, incredible improvisational skills and an astonishing 6-octave vocal range! Critics called his voice "different", and when he sang, he could create an intense and sensual musical experience for hours without interruption. The artist helped to popularize the traditional Sufi qawwali music, often called "music for the soul", in the world. He not only faithfully nurtured this tradition, but also experimented — he collaborated with Eastern music and world-class pop/cinema stars, combining the sounds of his voice with Western sounds. Nusrat gained recognition not only in South Asia - in 1995 Even UNESCO gave him the "Best Musician" award.
The door to the world of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan will be opened and the "guide" of this evening will be the violinist and musicologist Eirim Velička, who is particularly interested in the music of Asian nations. This afternoon we will get to know the genre of Kavala and the personality of N. F. A. Khan, listening to the highest quality records released by Real World Records.

CLOSER TO MUSIC - these are not concerts, but evenings of meetings with music, led by interesting "companions" - musicologists, musicians, music lovers - fans of a certain genre, composer, instrument, performer or country's musical culture.
