One evening, three masters of improvisation and a musical dialogue that cannot be repeated.
September 12. 6 p.m. St. Saxophone virtuoso Petras Vyšniauskas, pianist and composer Tomas Kutavičius and percussionist Arkadijus Gotesmanas meet in St. Catherine's Church with the program "Unread Letters II".
This is a meeting of three mature creators after a long break. Three decades ago, their joint concerts were played from Vilnius to Detroit, and the projects created together became part of the history of Lithuanian jazz. Today they take the stage again to continue the conversations recorded in letters and albums - only this time they are born right here, in front of the audience.
Every moment of the concert is a new piece. Vyšniauskas's improvisational freedom, Kutavicius's compositional minimalism and Gotesman's ingenuity merge into music that never sounds the same. This is a concert that won't happen "again" - only tonight's version.
Petras Vyšniauskas - laureate of the National Culture and Art Prize, who has performed in more than 70 countries, recorded dozens of albums and contributed to the creation of a professional saxophone school in Lithuania.
Tomas Kutavičius - a pianist and composer who combines improvisational and academic music, created symphonic, chamber music works, for music theater.
Arkadijus Gotesmanas is one of the most creative Lithuanian percussionists, a leader of the free improvisation scene, who has played in Europe, Asia, Africa and the USA, combining jazz and modern academic music in his work.
This is an evening where three exceptional personalities create music as if they were alone - but it speaks to everyone.
