For the first time at the Christopher Festival, the famous Huelg Ensemble, led by the legendary Paul van Nemveo. For more than five decades, it is this team that has been shaping the understanding of how old music should sound - by careful exploration of sources, reconstruction of sounds and stunningly precisely and skillfully conveying them.
Huelg Ensemble, who is performing in prestigious halls (from Lincoln Center to Royal Albert Hall), will try St. Acoustics of Catherine Church. The program that sounds in it was inspired by the Polyphilo Dream, one of the most mysterious, aesthetically richest texts of the Renaissance. It is a musical vision of times when love was a ritual and beauty is the direction of life. Each piece in this program is like an artistic artifact restored with accuracy but performed with passion.
