Concert of the 12th M. K. Čiurlionis International Music Festival in Vilnius

The M. K. Čiurlionis International Music Festival continues the tradition loved by listeners to provide a stage for future music stars. The highly successful performances of the orchestra of the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts led by maestro Martynas Staškaus always end with standing ovations and the audience welcomes no less than recognized stage stars.

The symphony orchestra of the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts was founded in 2002. This is the continuation of the activities of the famous string orchestra founded by former professor Saulius Sondeckis, which won the prestigious H. von Karajan competition. Since the foundation of the symphony orchestra, it has been led by the conductor of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre, maestro Martynas Staškus. The programs prepared by the orchestra have been played many times on the Lithuanian National Philharmonic and other big stages, the tour routes have reached foreign halls as well. Joris Mikužis and guests from distant Costa Rica, pianist Randal Gonzalez, winner of the Grand Prix of the international competition "Music of the Century" and soprano Tamara Redondo.

Special guests of the evening will also appear at the concert - legendary saxophonist Petras Vyšniauskas and one of the most famous Lithuanian pianists Aleksandra Žvirblytė, who have created more than one impressive program dedicated to Čiurlionis's work, with which they are successfully touring in Lithuania and abroad. This time, the greats of the stage, supported by the Čiurlionis orchestra, will perform arrangements of his works for saxophone, piano and orchestra specially created for Čiurlionis' year.
