The second decade of "Midsummer Vilnius" marks a new stage of the festival - it will be launched on July 11 by an exclusive international co-production, bringing together the British music phenomenon Jacob Collier, the legendary vocal sextet "Take 6" and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra (LKO) for a single evening. The performance will be conducted by a special guest - Suzie Collier, Jacob Collier's mother and the first shaper of his musical world.
Jacob Collier is one of the brightest phenomena of modern music, who distinguished himself early on with his unique musical thinking and multi-layered sound, which attracted the world's attention even as a teenager. Today, the seven-time Grammy winner creates an organic musical language in which jazz harmonies, choral polyphony, pop melodics, R&B sensibility and classical precision come together into a seamless aesthetic fabric. In live performances, Collier impresses with energy, skill and freedom of improvisation - evenings where the audience becomes a real partner in the creation, and his playful stage style further highlights the emotional pulse of the music.
He will be joined by Take 6, one of the world's most influential vocal ensembles that have shaped the modern vocal tradition of a cappella, gospel and jazz. Their precise, multi-layered sound and exquisite sense of harmony have inspired countless artists, and their professionalism has earned them international recognition and numerous awards, including a Grammy. Take 6 were one of Jacob Collier's first inspirations, attending their concerts as a child, and today their creative dialogue has become mutual: Collier inspires them as much as they once inspired him.
Tonight, a new creative connection will be formed with the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, famous for its flexibility, precision and openness to international projects. The orchestra will be conducted by a special guest - British conductor, violinist and honorary member of the Royal Academy of Music - Suzie Collier. Jacob Collier often points out that it was she who gave him polyphonic thinking, a sense of choral music, an intuition for harmony and the ability to "see colors" in music. The meeting of mother and son on stage is a rare and exclusive opportunity in the context of world music.
The opening concert will be one of the strongest highlights of this year's festival - an evening when we will feel the pulse of the world stage in Vilnius, as musicians from different countries and generations speak the universal language of music.
