The part -time dialogue between Debussy and Čiurlionis began in 1903, when both composers began to create symphonic works in the same year. Without knowing anything about one another, Impressionist Debussy will name his largest symphonic opus "La Mer, Trois Esquisses Symphonique Pour Orchestra" ("Sea, three sketches for Symphony Orchestra), and symbolist Čiurlionis. Writing it up in the landscape Dzūkian "lags". From their very different aesthetic and cultural positions, both geniuses looked at the same verse of the depths and the indispensable spaces, with sounds of sun and sea fellowship, wave dances and spree, wind power and its play in the sea legend.
The fates of the "seas" started in the same year were very different: Debussy Sea before the First World War, in particular by the efforts of conductor Arthur Toscanini, became one of the most important, most commonly played pieces and is considered a steady masterpiece of symphonic music history; Meanwhile, Čiurlionis' "Sea" was first performed only in 1936 in Kaunas, a quarter of a century after the composer's death, and a work without composer planned organ, and a significantly adjusted instrumentation. The fate of Čiurlionis "Sea" suffered a more shot when it was "edited" by composer Eduard Balsys in 1956, shortening its culmination and significantly replacing the orchestral. It was only after 1990, after Lithuania regained its independence, that the author's version was finally restored.
Two Sea has never been combined in one concert program, only in recent years this creative Debussy and Čiurlionis Sea Dialogue Dialogue of Sonata and Rock Zubov piano duo, the form of piano transcriptions for four hands, and has been performed in concerts from South Korea to the United States. In the new program "The Sea Shining Colors", this dialogue is expanded by the choral music of both composers and a new work "7 Reflection", which enriches the program of France and Lithuania with a new dimension that enriches the program of France and Lithuania. For the choir and piano of the work, the Lithuanian poet and diplomat in France, the personalities of the Lithuanian poet and the diplomat of the work, the poetic texts of Oscar Milašius from the cycle "elements" on Oscar.
