We invite you to visit the late baroque palace where the poet Maironis lived. After repairing the building, he lived in eight rooms, which you will see beautiful antique furniture, red velvet sofas, wardrobes full of rare books, ornate clocks, sculptures, paintings and Maironis himself, looking out from the portraits, welcoming the visitor as a loved and welcome guest in his apartment. While living here, he wrote excellent poems, the ballads "Čičinskas" and "Jūratė ir Kastytis", the trilogy of historical dramas "Kęstutis mirtis", "Vytautas pas kryžiuočius", "Didysis Vytautas - the king", as well as literary and historical scientific works.
The entire apartment of Maironis was furnished in 1992, and in 1998 authentic wall decor recreated for the first time. Since 2014 Maironis rooms were closed for restoration and only in 2016. September 16 reopened its doors to visitors. In the apartment, the ornaments of the artist Tadas Daugirdas in the Great living room, Art Deco style drawings in the study room, early Rococo decor in the Red living room have been renovated. At the same time, the Maironis memorial apartment has been reconstructed for the first time and visitors can go around the rooms in a circle and see the kitchen of the house, where sister Marcelė Mačiulitė used to host. Visitors will choose a wide variety of activities according to their interests and needs! An important highlight of the exhibition is the film about Maironis, the script for which was created by director and writer Mindaugas Valiukas. In a modern way, highlighting the main merits and the uniqueness of the poet's personality and works, we believe that everyone will rediscover a different Maironis.
Next to Maironis's apartment, even in seven halls, the entire history of Lithuanian literature is presented! From Martyn Mažvydas to Jurga Ivanauskaitė! You won't even notice how you will get caught up in the whirlwind of stories - manuscripts, authentic books, authors' personal belongings, a rich audio library with the voices of famous actors, video material, terminals that invite you to participate and discover literature and yourself anew.

Attention! The Maironis Museum of Lithuanian Literature has an elevator adapted for people with mobility disabilities.
