We invite you to visit the late Baroque palace, where the poet Maironis lived. After repairing the building, you settled in eight rooms, which you will see beautiful vintage furniture, red velvet sofas, rare books full of cabinets, gorgeous watches, sculptures, paintings and Maironis, looking at portraits, seeking a visitor as a beloved and expected guest in your apartment. While living here, he wrote great poems, ballads "Čičinskas" and "Jūratė and Kastytis", a trilogy of historical dramas "Death of Kestutis", "Vytautas to the Crusaders", "The Great Vytautas - King", as well as literary and history scientific work.
The entire Maironis apartment was installed in 1992 and in 1998. For the first time, authentic wall decor was restored. Since 2014 Maironis' rooms were closed for restoration and only in 2016. September 16th. again opened the door to visitors. In the apartment, the ornaments of the artist Tadas Daugirdas, the art deco style drawings of the workroom, the red living room of the early Rococo style decor. At the same time, the Maironis Memorial Apartment is first reconstructed and visitors can bypass the rooms in a circle, a new to see the home kitchen, where Sister Marcelė Mačiulytė. The Maironis Lithuanian Literature Museum has a new exposition for Jonas Mačiulis-Maironis' life and creative work. Visitors will choose activities that all diversity will choose according to their hobbies and need! An important highlight of the exposition is the film about Maironis, who was created by the script by the director, writer Mindaugas Valiukas. Contemporary, highlighting the fundamental merits and the uniqueness of the poet's personality and work, we believe that everyone will rediscover a different Maironis. Next to Maironis' apartment, as many as seven halls, the whole history of Lithuanian literature was presented! From Martynas Mažvydas to Jurga Ivanauskaitė! You will not even notice how you will turn into a spinning of the narratives - manuscripts, authentic books, authors' personal belongings, a large audiotheka with voices of famous actors, video, terminals inviting to participate and discover literature and reassess themselves.
