We invite you to the home of the author of the novel The Forest of the Gods
Bali and Vanda Sruogai House-Museum (Maironis Lithuanian Museum of Literature Museum)-Wooden, Modernist House, 1936. Designed by architect Vladimir Zubov. Interestingly, the house was first built in Samogitia, the father of V. Sruogienė's father, Kazimieras Daugirdas. However, the parts of the disassembled house were brought to Kaunas by rail and re -arranged. 1938 The construction of the house was completed and the Sruoga family moved to live here.
On the ground floor, three authentic Bali and Vanda strands were restored.
Professor B. Sruoga's work office has survived part of the personal library, a typewriter, an ancient-style desk, on the walls-portraits of artists Olga Dubeneckienė-Kalpokienė, Vladas Didžioko, Adam Varnas writer. Historian doctor V. Daugirdaitė Sruogienė's work in the office - part of the memorial library sent from the US, personal belongings on the desk, and reproduction of paintings by M. K. Čiurlionis on the walls.
The living room-dining room-furniture created by the artist John Pruolenis, artists Adam Galdikas, Antanas Žmuidzinavičius, Leonas Kazokas, Viktor Petravičius and others. The works were constantly attended by Sruoga friends, colleagues - theaters, shareholders, lecturers.
On the first floor there are two separate literary exposures for Bali and Vandai strands.
The museum hosts various events, commemorations, excursions and educational programs for visitors of all ages. Excursions and educational programs need to be booked in advance.
