SUMMER DAY

Two people meet in a remote area of ​​the city. For one, everything is not going well - he has nothing, he is not happy with anything, and he no longer sees the point in living on such a hill of tears. That's why he came to the outskirts of the city - to end his suffering and make an end for himself. The person you meet unexpectedly here looks completely different. He is successful, he has everything he dreamed of, but he also sees no reason to continue living. Both of them have something to complain about, but are they ready to change something?

The comedy of the absurd solves the equation of the meaning of life comically and musically. While the angels send signs of hope to the heroes, the mystical figure of death also does his work. It is a summer day, where neither dances, nor songs, nor absurd situations prevent solving the most complex questions of existence. Different life scenarios brought the heroes of the performance to the same point - in it they search for beauty and hope to live together.

Slavomirs Mrožek (1930-2013) - Polish writer, author of satirical texts, caricature artist, considered by critics to be one of the most famous contemporary Polish playwrights. Lived in Italy, France, Mexico in 1968. his work was banned in Poland due to the author's critical attitude towards Soviet politics. S. Mrožek became famous as a master of the grotesque, a playwright who mastered the absurd genre, in his works political and historical references are interwoven with parodies and fantasy. Plays based on the author's plays "Tango" and "Emigrantai" were staged in the Lithuanian Theater. "Summer Day" is a work by S. Mrožek published in 1983.

Paulius Pinigis - actor and director, lecturer at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. in Klaipėda Youth Theater (KJT) performances since 2012. created dozens of roles, plays in movies. He debuted as a director in 2015. KJT presented the absurd drama "Shauktiniai". in 2023 the play "Waiting for Godot" directed by P. Pinigis of the same genre was richly awarded at the "Teatro genas" festival of professional Lithuanian theaters. This year, the director has already presented two theater premieres - the immersive performance "Confession" with his teacher Valentin Masalskis and the monoplay "Lighthouse". "Summer Day" is the latest directorial work of P. Pinigis.
