The performance - a tour of the interwar Žaliakalnis - is a performative event that directly involves young and professional artists from the Žaliakalnis community, introducing them to the living memory and history of Žaliakalnis residents. This is a joint project of the dance troupe ULNA and "Kaunas - European Capital of Culture 2022", a cross-section of the Kaunas cell - Žaliakalnis, revealing all its beauty through aesthetic means, historical and documentary methods. So what connects the interwar capital of Lithuania and the capital of European culture?
The tour will start from the legendary Kaukas stairs, considered a symbol of interwar Kaunas. According to architectural historian J. Kančienė, in the interwar period this was the most beautiful staircase in Lithuania. Legend has it that King Kaukas is here - a hero of Lithuanian myths, such a small guy. On this tour, with the help of dance, theater and music, the audience will be introduced to the current affairs of Žaliakalnis between the wars and will see how this area looks today, experience its change.
The project is unique because here the viewer not only observes the visual staging of the piece, but becomes an immersive participant with the help of headphones. The voices in them, the stories voiced by the actors, merging with the music, will transport the participants to another space, immersing them in a journey step by step through the stairs of time - from the interwar period to the present day.
