Palle Granhøj
"It's not Romeo and Juliet"
Denmark / Lithuania
"It is not Romeo and Juliet" aims to transcend the well -known classical drama narrative structure and offers a unique, enriched perspective.
Unlike the traditional portrayal of the play, the performance features not only youthful but also mature -a "musical" pair of lovers combining the mastery of four dancers and two musicians.
The core of the performance is the music that dynamically intertwined live motifs taken from marks related to this story.
Whether it is a young couple's passion or a deep experience in a mature relationship - love occupies a major place. The dynamics of this relationship are changing, inviting me to think about the complex human relationships.
The performance explores the topic of people who are determined to die for love. Modern echoes
It emerges, drawing references to the present war in Europe, which was very close to rehearsing in Lithuania and no less intense - showing it in the border with Russia, just a few kilometers from Kaliningrad.

About the Granhøj Dans Troupe / Obstacle Technique
Granhøj Dans is an internationally recognized dance troupe based in Denmark. Granhøj Dans performs produced by Palle Granhøj, a troupe artistic director and choreographer, in close cooperation with dancers.
The basis of each performance is Palle Granhøj's "Obstacle" technique, which has allowed about 35 original pieces in the last 35 years. Based on the working method, the choreographer transforms the movements of the performers by obstructing their actions, thus revealing the inner layers of their personality and focusing on the human state. Palle Granhøj tries to show not dancers and choreography, but men and women as they are: real, lively and complex.
The Granhøj Dans is supported by the Danish Art Foundation, and the troupe presented its works in more than 50 countries in Europe, Asia and America over the years. Granhøj Dans and Palle Granhøj have won numerous awards and prizes, including 4 awards for Best Dance of the Year at the prestigious Danish Stage Art Awards Returt Re new.
