Emanuel Gat
"Freedom Sonata"
France
"Everything that is, is from everything else - nothing exists in itself."
Performance
Freedom Sonata is a free, contemporary approach to the classic form of musical sonata, developed through three different choreographic movements. The soundtrack of the work is the juxtaposition of two musical sources: Kanye Westo 2016. The second part of his last sonata no. 32. (Playing Mitsuko Ushida, recorded in 2006). Choreography, like music, is free from the need to rely on external themes and concepts. In my understanding, the choreographic work should not be associated with any specific topic because it needs a void that should not be filled to address most things and become a bearer of meaning.
Freedom Sonata is another continuing, constant study of how groups and individuals are behaving, acting and trying to find balance and satisfaction. In this sense, of course, there is a way to look at how society - the way we know it - organizes it in various contexts, so it can be considered as analysis of possible alternative models. The term and the term "freedom" are probably the most abused, misunderstood and inaccurately perceived word. The truth is that there is nothing easier than depriving people of any freedom or natural law. Creating a choreography can be a space where you can deal with the internal tension between the individual and the collective, what authority can be a positive driving force and what is destructive. Therefore, the question of whether my work is political, I answer that my work is not political, but the way I work is political. If I were looking at my work from an anthropological perspective, y. How to think and active issues such as group organization models, management techniques and political structures, economic models, resource management, etc. i.e., I would define it, this is how choreographic practice is the commitment to the idea that society can be based on the principles of self -organization, voluntary cooperation and mutual assistance. Decentralization of the structure of the traditional choreographer and dancers' hierarchy, rethinking of the distribution of power and responsibility, new ways to define what can actually be choreography and / or dance, creation, and the desire to change the established paradigm, bringing personal freedom as the main value of dance creation. These are the most valuable strategies that make dance an important force that draws attention to the abnormalities of society and the alternatives offered.
